John Schlitt had plenty of energy for this concert, and you could tell! As soon as the concert started, he gave it his all and his voice still sounds awesome. Bob was right on par with the band, not making any mistakes at all. Before the actual concert (during the sound check), Bob was doing some cool jams. I'm guessing that part of his jams may have been part of some new JAH material! He also played solos to some parts that used keyboards, which was pretty interesting, like "Let Everything that Hath Breath", "Creed" and "This Means War". At the end of "It is Finished", Bob AND Greg did the keyboard parts and that sounded incredible! I really loved it when after "Right Place", Bob started doing the intro to "Let Everything that Hath Breath" .....we were like "Oh yeah!" and they really rocked that song out. John did miss a few lyrics during that song and "Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows", but it was ok because he always knew how to recover. Jekyll and Hyde live was great too, except I believe that deserves a solo, along with Judas' Kiss. The Noise We Make is probably the song I'd rather replace with something else because I'm just not a huge fan of that song when John sings it live; his voice sounds strange. "Beyond Belief" was pretty good, and of course Bob did the solo GREAT and it sounded just like it did on the album. Shortly after that, Bob did this really awesome guitar solo, while John ran around the field giving fans high fives, which was pretty neat. Then they came back on for one more song and did "Lord I Lift Your Name On High" and even let the crowd do some of the singing parts. That was good, but I'd have to say the best part was the medley because John sounded awesome on "This Means War" and Bob ROCKED on "Sight Unseen". Another honorable mention is "Right Place". Usually when Petra did that song live, it wasn't all that great, but this time it sounded really great considering they didn't go to fast for John ;). Some songs I'd probably cut from the song list are "The Noise We Make" and (sorry) "Creed". For reasons already said, and the lack of a keyboard player for the second track. I'd throw "He Came, He Saw, He Conquered" and "Praying Man" back into the list. Those are great songs live. Maybe even Adonai. I'd probably have to say that this concert was just below the previous concert in greatness because of how short it was and the lack of keyboards. Other than that, it was terrific. Below are some pictures of the concert, and soon, I'll have some footage for download!
Here is a picture of the awesome stage they performed on.
Here is another view of the stage.
Alright folks, this picture is tight. That is John Schlitt himself, close up as he was singing Right Place while running through the crowd. Sweet!
Here is a great picture of Bob, John and Greg.
Bob Hartman, rockin' out!
Another shot of Uncle Bob with John to the right.
Here is a shot of the whole band.
John's "getting into it".
We weren't the only one getting great footage of this legendary band.
Sup, Greg.
Alright, here's the best part! We finally got to take a picture with the man himself, Bob Hartman! He's like, "Get over here, you Bostonians!" and we had one of the crewmembers take this awesome picture for us.
Justin was on his way out because he had to leave early to go to a Carman concert. But he was such a nice guy, that he personally met everyone in line waiting before he left, and we were able to get a picture with him.
And here is the grand finale! It's John, me, Greg, and Bill all chillin' out in the signing booth! Woot!
