Prompt Manager

• Add/Edit/Delete Prompts: Create, update, and remove prompts with a modern in-app modal interface.
• Pin/Unpin Prompts: Pin your most important prompts to the top of the list for quick access.
• Real-Time Search: Instantly filter prompts by title, codename, or body as you type.
• Import/Export: Backup or restore your prompts as a JSON file. Import merges by codename, avoiding duplicates.
• Codename Management: Codenames are always editable and must be unique.
• UI/UX: The Prompt Manager modal is centered, with persistent search input and fixed action buttons for easy access.

Access the Prompt Manager by clicking the plus button when starting a new conversation. Reference a prompt by typing @ plus the codename in the conversation input field.

Installation

1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Navigate to gemini.google.com.
3. The Easy Folders sidebar will appear automatically, integrated into the Gemini interface.
4. Start organizing your conversations!

Instructions

Creating Folders

• Click the “Add Folder” button (➕) in the Easy Folders sidebar header to create a new, empty folder.
• Create folders directly from “gems” by visiting /gems/view or clicking the yellow “plus” button next to gem cards/links.
• Pick any accent color so folders stay easy to recognize.

Managing Conversations

• Add to Folder: Click the blue “plus” button next to any recent conversation or use the “Add to folder” menu item.
• Move / Reorder: Drag conversations between folders or within a folder to reorder them.
• Edit / Delete: Use the inline action buttons in each folder row to rename, pin, or remove conversations.
• Pinning: Toggle the pin icon in the edit modal to keep important chats at the top.

Gem Integration

• Create Folder from Gem: Click the yellow “plus” on gem cards or links to instantly create a linked folder (you can also create a gem and folder simultaneously by checking “Create Folder?” when saving a new gem).
• Auto-Capture: Starting a conversation inside a gem that already has a linked folder automatically adds it to that folder.
• Bulk Gem Sync: Click the 🔍 button in the Easy Folders header. It auto-scrolls Recent, logs the scan, and presents every gem conversation that isn’t yet in its folder so you can bulk add them via “Add to Folder(s)”.
• Purge Missing Conversations: Click the 🧹 button to auto-scroll Recent, compare against every folder, and delete conversations from folders if they no longer exist in Gemini.

Prompt Manager

• Open a Gemini conversation, click the blue “plus” gem button, then choose “Manage Prompts”.
• Create or edit prompts with a title, codename, and body; pin important prompts for quick access.
• Type @yourPromptCodename anywhere in the Gemini message box to instantly insert that prompt’s body.

Advanced Tools

• Search: Use the centered search bar to filter folders and conversations instantly.
• Export/Import: Use the ⬇️ (export) and ⬆️ (import) buttons to back up or restore your folder setup.
• Theme Toggle: Click 🌗 to cycle through Dark, Light, or Auto themes.

Privacy & Security

This extension is designed with your privacy in mind:

• It only works on gemini.google.com domains.
• All your folder organization data is stored locally in your browser.
• It does not send any of your data to external servers.
• It does not access, read, or modify the content of your conversations, only their titles and URLs for organization purposes.
• No tracking, analytics, or data collection of any kind.

Permissions

• storage: To save your folder organization locally within your browser.
• host_permissions: Access to gemini.google.com to allow the extension to integrate with the Gemini interface and add its features.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

• Extension not appearing: Refresh the Gemini page or restart your browser.
• Drag and drop not working: Ensure you're dragging conversations between expanded folders.
• Conversations not auto-adding: Use the bulk sync button (🔍) to capture existing conversations.
• Lost folder data: Check if you have multiple Google accounts and ensure you're signed into the correct one.

Tips for Best Experience

• Keep folders expanded when organizing to see drag and drop targets clearly.
• Use the search function to quickly locate specific conversations or folders.
• Regularly export your folder configuration as a backup.
• Pin your most important conversations for quick access.
• Use the bulk sync feature after creating new gem folders to capture existing conversations.

v1.18.0 - UI Glitch Fixes & Enhancements (November 2025)

• Edit Folder Modal Improvements: "Save", "Cancel", and "Delete" buttons now have uniform widths. Added a new "Edit Gem" button for gem folders that opens the gem editor in the same tab.
• Sort Menu Redesign: Completely redesigned the conversation sort menu with a modern look, distinct light/dark modes, and fixed clipping issues by attaching it to the body.
• Folder Color Stability: Fixed an issue where folder colors would appear "dulled" when interacting with the search bar.
• Search Input Visibility: Fixed invisible white text in the search bar when using light mode.

• Rotating Chevron: The expand/collapse icon for folders now smoothly rotates, providing a cleaner and more polished animation.

v1.15.0 - Purge Reliability, Reverse Gem Sync & Gem Naming Fix

• Persistent Header Button: The “Add to folder” Gemini header button now anchors itself to the top bar or chat window and stays visible as you scroll. When a chat is already stored the button disables with a helpful tooltip instead of vanishing.
• Automatic Recent Loading: Both purge and gem-sync now auto-scroll the Recent list until Gemini finishes lazy-loading every conversation, so you no longer have to manually scroll to get accurate results.
• Live Progress Chip: A new “Searching for conversations…” badge appears in the top-right corner while the purge scan runs, making it obvious that Easy Folders is working.
• Smarter DOM Detection: Conversation scraping ignores Easy Folders’ own UI, dynamically discovers Gemini’s real scroll containers (even inside shadow roots), and captures IDs/URLs far more reliably.
• Safety & Logging: Scroll positions are restored after every scan and expanded logging makes it easier to diagnose sidebar changes introduced by Gemini.
• Gem Conversation Sync: The magnifying-glass button now auto-loads Recent Conversations, recovers gem IDs from attributes/jslog/cache, and lets you add missing conversations via the new "Add to Folder(s)" modal.

• New Feature: Added the ability to sort conversations in folders by Title or Date.

v1.12 — Gem Conversation Sync and Deletion UX

• Correct Gem Conversation Titles: Fixed a persistent issue where starting a new conversation from a gem saved the prompt text instead of Gemini's generated title. We now wait for the Recent sidebar title and store that as the source of truth.
• Per-Delete Confirmation Only: Fixed a bug where conversations were removed from folders before the Gemini native delete confirmation. Folder removal only occurs after confirmation.
• Not Found → Manual Delete Prompt (One at a time): When a conversation isn't found in Recent during a delete from a folder, a single prompt appears: "Conversation not found. Manually delete?" Confirming removes only that item from the folder.
• Gem Manager Folder Name Cleanup: Creating a folder from a gem on the Gem Manager now uses only the gem title—no subtitles/last prompt text.
• Hide Misplaced Buttons: Fixed "Add conversation to folder" buttons appearing next to gems under "New chat".
• Start Chat Modal Fix: Prevented a "Create folder from gem" button from appearing inside the "Start Chat" modal after creating a new gem and folder simultaneously.
• Other Bug Fixes & Polish: General robustness, UI polish, and logging improvements.

Note: Due to ongoing changes in Gemini, deleting very old conversations from the Easy Folders UI may not work reliably. Deleting newer conversations works as of August 25, 2025.

v1.11 - Reliable Title Detection Fix

• Fixed Conversation Title Detection: Completely overhauled the title detection system to be more reliable and trustworthy.
• Simplified Detection Logic: Removed complex validation rules that were incorrectly filtering out valid titles. Now waits for conversations to appear in Recent sidebar and uses whatever title Gemini assigns.
• Extended Wait Time: Increased maximum wait time from 30 to 60 seconds to allow more time for Gemini to generate proper titles.
• Single Source of Truth: Only trusts titles from the Recent sidebar - no more guessing or validation needed.
• Eliminated False Negatives: Fixed issue where valid Gemini-generated titles were being rejected and replaced with user prompts.
• Better Logging: Added comprehensive logging to help debug title detection issues.
